Abstract: | The study was about staff capacity building and organizational performance at Uganda Printing and Publishing Cooperation. The objectives were; to establish the existing capacity building programmes available for staff development at Uganda Printing and Publishing Corporation, to assess the relevance of the capacity building programs on organizational performance of Uganda Printing and Publishing Corporation and to determine the effect of capacity building on organizational performance of Uganda Printing and Publishing Corporation. The study employed a case study approach, and obtained data from 66 respondents through questionnaires and interviews. The findings through the pearson moment’s correlations Sig. 2-Tailed (0.444) reveals that generally, the quality of capacity building programme presentations is good and encourages proper performance; further they are relevant and vital for driving good performance out of the staff. The staff capacity building programmes in place are crucial for ensuring this adoption of several work improvement and performance tools such as computerized designing and printing. Staff capacity building is an inexhaustible programme aimed at ensuring better knowledge building and skilling of staff to make them better performers. Thus there is a significant relationship between staff capacity building programmes and the performance of Uganda Printing and Publishing Co-operation. The study recommends that there is need to strengthen the human resource department so that they can be able to organize many more relevant training in order to replenish the knowledge and skills of the existing and new staff to make them more astute performers; the management and administration should ensure that the trainings held to improve staff skills are relevant at al all times by matching them with the contemporary needs and requirements of the organization, and the management and staff should ensure that staff capacity building is continuously undertaken in order to bridge all the skills gaps and also support the new staff and on boarding adapt to the work environment fast and relevantly. |
