dc.description.abstract The main thesis of this paper was to examine the effects of government language policy in relation to Kiswahili in Uganda. The historical background to the language policy in Uganda is explored. The causes of failure of implement the language policy are discussed. The roles of Christianity and Islam in the language questions are outlined. The colonial perspectives and political role in the language matters in the country are discussed. The paper proposes the training of those who train the young ones so that the Kiswahili language is mastered at an early age. en_US
