dc.description.abstract	The purpose of this study is to examine the influence of innovatory management on procurement performance in Public Universities in Uganda, focusing on Busitema University. The study was guided by the following objectives: to examine the influence of receipt of materials on procurement performance in Busitema University, to analyse the impact of stock control mechanisms on procurement performance in Busitema University and to determine the extent at which material issuance influences procurement performance in Busitema University. The study adopted a descriptive and case study research design. The target population was 150 staff and the sample size was 108 respondents was determined using Krejcie& Morgan, (1970), however only 105 respondents successfully participated in the study. The data collection instruments were questionnaires and interviews; and data analysis was done using frequency and percentage tables and regression analysis. The correlation results indicated a positive and significant influence of receipt of materials on procurement performance (.688) at a significance level of 0.000,a positive and significant impact of stock control mechanisms on procurement performance (.636) at a significance level of 0.000,a positive and significant influence of issuance of materials on procurement performance (.586**) at a significance level of 0.000. The study found 69.3% of procurement performance in Busitema University is explained by inventory management in form of material issuance, stock control mechanisms and receipt of materials. The study concludes that procurement performance in Busitema University is explained by inventory management in form of material issuance, stock control mechanisms and receipt of materials. The study recommends thatmanagement should improve in their communication with the suppliers; hold regular meetings with the suppliers to disseminate important issues relating the inventory procurement; strive to maintain good suppliers’ chain management of inventory to avoid pilferage and ensure that adequate security is in place to enforce restrictions on unauthorized access to the inventory. Further research should be conducted in another public institutions or private institutions of higher learning in Uganda and East Africa as a whole and on the effect of strategic procurement on performance of public institution in Uganda, to build and add more knowledge in the area of procurement to determine the perception on practices of procurement and performance.	en_US
