dc.description.abstract This paper examines the influence of head teachers’ school leadership styles on students’ academic performance, a case study of Kisoro Municipality Secondary Schools, Kisoro district Uganda. The objectives of the study were; to examine the Head teachers’ leadership styles in secondary schools; to find out how the school head teachers’ leadership styles impact the students’ academic performance, to find out the extent to which head teacher’s style of managing teachers influence students’ academic performance and to find strategies to be used by the school administration in uplifting the academic performance of the students. A random stratified sampling method was used to select 100 students, 10 teachers and purposive method used to select 2 head teachers. Questionnaires, observation, interview and documents were used for data collection. Quantitative data were analyzed in terms of descriptive statistics whereas qualitative data qualitatively. The study recommends that Head teachers should intensify the routine checking of professional records by teachers to ensure adherence to the dictates of the professional records. This effort must be supported by the quality assurance officers from the ministry of education who will be doing external quality reviews on a regular basis. en_US
