dc.description.abstract The study examined the effects of On-the-job training on employee performance in DFCU bank. It was guided by three objectives i) To assess the effect of comprehensive orientation on employee performance at DFCU, ii) To examine the effect of job rotation on employee performance at DFCU, iii) To assess the effect of committee assignments on employee performance at DFCU. The study adopted a phenomenological approach research design; the data was categorised under both qualitative and quantitative approaches. The study population was 134 and a sample size of 100 respondents of which only 90 participated presenting a response rate of 90.0%. Results revealed that the most effective contributor to employee performance is committee assignments (R Square of 0.715), followed by comprehensive orientation (R Square of 0.424) and the least contributor is job rotation (Adjusted R Square of .138). The test also revealed that DFCU on-the job training has a statistically significant positive relationship with employee performance since all p values were below the alpha of 0.05 and as such the null hypothesis was rejected. In conclusion the study notes that orientation alone is not adequate to influence employee productivity levels; however, the management of DFCU Bank helps the new employees to settle in and give them the information required to enable them become a valuable team member. Since the correlation results showed a relationship between the two elements, this means that if management put in more effort in committee assignments, employees’ performance also improves. In recommendation, the study suggested that Management should lay an establishment for new employees’ whole career inside all departments. Management of DFCU Bank Ltd should address and fill any gap in their job rotation strategy since it will help employees gain knowledge in several different areas hence enabling employees connect ideas across different roles. en_US
