dc.description.abstract The study was about the influence of monitoring and evaluation practices on Project performance: (Case study Alliance Forum for Development (AFOD). The study mainly focused on four specific objectives; to determine the effect of M&E planning process on the performance of AFOD Programs, to establish the effect of M&E technical expertise on performance of AFOD Programs, to determine effect of stakeholder involvement on performance of AFOD Programs and to assess effect of management participation in M&E on performance of AFOD Programs. A sample of 73 respondents was used. Both qualitative and quantitative approaches were used. The descriptive research design was used. The self administered questionnaire, interview, and documentary review were the major tools of data collection. According to the study findings, results revealed that 57(78.1%) were in agreement that M&E planning process for AFOD programs is comprehensive and well-structured. 16(21.9%) were in disagreement. Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) planning process for AFOD (Alliance forum for Development) programs is designed to be comprehensive and well-structured, ensuring that program activities are on track. Further on the second objective, Results of findings revealed that 51(71.2%) agreed that technical expertise in M&E is a significant factor in enhancing project performance at AFOD. On the third objective, Results from the field revealed that 46(63%) were in agreement that AFOD projects include stakeholders from the beginning in designing of M&E tools. However, 27(38%) of the respondents were in disagreement, implying that there are gaps in the participatory process, where some stakeholders might feel overlooked or insufficiently engaged. The study recommended that the Alliance Forum for Development should come up with policies that support adequate training of the field staff involved in monitoring and evaluation through offer of adequate training for the requisite skills. The study also recommended that all relevant stakeholders’ interests’ impact and influence should be enhanced in planning. As a result, it is utmost important have a monitoring plan that is set based on acceptable best practices in order to provide ‘evidence based’ project outcomes. en_US
